The Si-RS485TC-T-MB is a digital silicon reference cell from IMT Technology GmbH, Germany, designed for accurate measurement of solar irradiance and sensor-cell temperature in photovoltaic (PV) monitoring systems. Using an RS485 interface with MODBUS communication, the sensor is well suited to industrial PV plants, solar farms and long-distance data acquisition systems.
The sensor provides a reliable reference for evaluating actual solar radiation received by a PV system. It can be used for PV performance monitoring, yield analysis, performance-ratio calculation, system diagnostics and comparison between measured irradiance and PV power output.
The Si-RS485TC-T-MB measures irradiance from 0–1500 W/m² and cell temperature from -40 to +90°C. Its RS485 digital communication makes it practical for integration with data loggers and monitoring systems.

All measured parameters can be transferred via the digital RS485/MODBUS interface, while selected versions can be expanded with Tamb-Si, Tmodul-Si and Vwind-Si sensors.
IMT Technology uses a high-quality monocrystalline silicon solar cell with active temperature compensation. The sensor is constructed similarly to a standard PV module, using EVA encapsulation, glass/Tedlar and a powder-coated aluminium housing. This helps provide comparable spectral response and incident-angle characteristics to PV modules, reducing mismatch effects in PV monitoring.
The sensors are calibrated against a reference cell calibrated by Germany's PTB National Metrology Institute. The calibration measurement uncertainty is specified at 1.2%, meeting Class A according to IEC 61724-1. The sensor also features IP67 protection, an operating temperature range of -35 to +80°C, and typical RS485 response time of approximately 1 second.
