The Motortronics MVC4-3CT is a dedicated 3CT Current Feedback PCB designed for MVC4 Medium Voltage Soft Starters. The board provides current feedback signals from the medium-voltage power section to the main control electronics through fiber-optic isolation, supporting accurate monitoring and protection of high-power AC motors.

The MVC4-3CT is therefore not a conventional standalone sensor. It is a specialized current-sensing interface PCB used within the MVC4 medium-voltage soft starter architecture. Motortronics documentation identifies MVC4-3CT as a three-CT board, while UL documentation lists specific MVC4-3CT board assemblies and revisions. Correct revision and compatibility should be verified against the installed MVC4 unit before replacement.

Key Technology Advantages

The MVC4 platform uses SCR-based solid-state power control combined with Motortronics' True Thermal Modeling technology. The system continuously tracks thermal conditions associated with motor starting and overload, helping protect critical motor assets. MVC4 supports voltage ranges from approximately 2.3 kV to 15 kV, ratings up to 20,000 HP, and overload capability of 500% for 60 seconds / 600% for 30 seconds.

Fiber-optic isolation between sensing/control circuits and the medium-voltage power section provides an important safety and electrical-noise advantage. The architecture also incorporates SCR dv/dt protection, vacuum bypass contactors, comprehensive motor protection and optional ground-fault/RTD functions.
